Your Guide to Online Learning Success: Regent’s One-Stop Resource Page
As Regent’s on-campus students transition to online learning alongside our already vibrant online community, one thing is certain – we are all in this together.
“I am so proud of our Regent students, as well as our faculty and staff, who have handled the transition to online courses with excellence,” said Dr. Gerson Moreno-Riano, executive vice president for Academic Affairs. “Our students continue to amaze me with their hard work and resilience during such an unprecedented time. We are fully committed to their success and preparing them for their God-given purpose.”
To help students succeed and navigate the changes that have come with the outbreak of the coronavirus (COVID-19), we have created a one-stop page, Your Guide to Online Learning and Success, where students can access a collection of Regent resources and find tips for succeeding in the online environment.
Our goal is to encourage and support the Regent community. As a leading Christian university and a pioneer in online education, we provide exceptional instruction and world-class support. Here are some of the valuable resources you can expect in Your Guide to Online Learning and Success:
Advising
Regent’s Office of Advising serves as a central liaison to help students navigate through degree requirements, financial aid and academic standing. Throughout your academic program, advisors provide university resources as well as caring and practical support.
Life Coaching
Life Coaching is offered through the Center for Student Happiness with the goal of helping students overcome challenges and put goals into action. During coaching sessions — which are free of charge to students and can be done over the phone or via video call — certified coaches will help students focus priorities, organize schedules, overcome obstacles, and offer prayer and moral support.
Writing Lab
Regent’s writing lab helps strengthen composition, research and grammar skills, and keep students on track. Staffed by specially trained experts, appointments can be made online, and are held over the phone or online.
Campus Ministries
Campus Ministries serves beyond students’ academic needs by fostering discipleship and providing emotional and spiritual support and growth.
They have numerous programs available online that help students grow in their faith and engage with the community of believers at Regent. Join Campus Ministries on Instagram and Facebook for encouraging videos, live-streamed worship services, and intercessory prayer.
Information Technology Help Desk
When difficulties arise with accessing Regent systems (Genisys, Canvas, Email, etc.) the IT HelpDesk offers expert customer service and support. Staff members are available from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. EDT to reset passwords, walk through login issues, help overcome Canvas glitches, and assist with other computer concerns.
University Library
Regent’s librarians are available remotely to help students find books, articles, or other resources for their academic assignments. The library’s website also contains a plethora of tools and materials, including e-books and databases filled with academic, peer-reviewed articles and journals.
New! Online Counseling Tools
In addition to the above resources, Regent’s Counseling Services are offering tele-behavioral health appointments to students who could continue counseling on campus when Regent facilities open. The counseling center will be offering online videos with practical resources regarding topics such as depression, anxiety, stress management, and more. “Our goal is for students to have the same resources and opportunities for their mental health that they had while they were on or near campus,” said Robert Kuschel, Regent’s director of counseling and disability services. “We know this is incredibly stressful for everyone and it is not something that students should have to walk through alone.
