School of Education Ranked Top 21
Jumping 15 spots from last year, Regent University’s School of Education’s (SOE) graduate degrees were ranked 21st out of nearly 250 institutions in the 2015 Best Online Programs by U.S. News & World Report.
The online magazine considers student engagement, student services and technology, faculty credentials and training, admissions selectivity and peer reputation while evaluating survey results from participating schools. Regent’s SOE is ranked 12th in faculty credentials and training.
“Romans 8:28, ‘all things work together for good for those who love God,’ is definitely a verse that comes to mind,” said Dr. Alan Arroyo, SOE dean. “Our outstanding faculty and staff supply quality online graduate coursework that produces hundreds of award-winning educators and other skilled professional teachers and administrators. Our admissions and advising teams provide effective student support and Regent’s marketing efforts lead to a greater awareness of the university. All of these components and more contributed to our high ranking.”
One thing that sets Regent apart from many other schools is its faculty credentials and training. Arroyo attributes Regent’s high score in this category – 92 points out of 100 – to Regent’s selective process in hiring committed, excellent Christian faculty members. He says Regent’s Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) played a major role in supporting faculty and students. Student selectivity and retention ratings also increased, contributing to the SOE’s good ranking.
“Most of our online courses are taught by full-time faculty members who graduated from some of the best schools in the country,” said Arroyo. “These education professionals have impressive scholarly accomplishments and have an outstanding service record to their profession and communities. Our faculty meet, pray and work on the inspiring Regent campus, drawing upon the culture of spiritual vitality and Christian faith and learning integration.”
