Regent University’s Alumni Office Launches the 923 Challenge
Something big is coming.
Beginning at midnight on Wednesday, Sept. 23, Regent University’s Office of Alumni Relations will launch its first-ever 923 Challenge campaign in an effort to raise $25,000 in donations in only 24 hours from Regent’s 20,000+ alumni.
Visit the 923 Challenge campaign site.
The one-day challenge is raising funds for Regent’s World Changer and school-specific scholarships. At the end of the donation period, one anonymous Regent alumnus has agreed to match the donation, bringing the potential scholarship opportunity to $50,000 throughout the campaign.
“We really hope to engage some alumni who may never have participated in giving before,” said Melissa Fuquay, director of Alumni Relations. “With a $25,000 matching gift from a generous alumnus, we’re hoping alumni will be inspired to give on this day. Every gift will be matched. Give once. Help twice.”
Fuquay explained that along with their end-goal of raising the sum to meet the donation-match requirement, she also wants to create a sense of paying it forward among the Regent alumni community.
“Most of our alumni have received scholarships or tuition discounts so that they could attend Regent,” said Fuquay. “It’s important to support Regent so that they help make these same scholarships and discounts available for the next generation of Regent students.”
Alumni officer, Malcolm Fitschen ’16 (Robertson School of Government), agrees. He’s excited by the prospect of connecting with first-time givers across the country to join the challenge and contribute to the future of the university.
“Alumni giving paves the way for prospective students who wouldn’t be able to receive such an education without our generous alumni donations,” said Fitschen. “It ensures Regent can attract leaders from around the world through merit-based scholarships.”
