Regent University Theatre Presents: Wait Until Dark

You may not be afraid of things that go “bump” in the night – but what about a darkened theatre?

Regent University’s presentation of Wait Until Dark opens in the Studio Theatre on Friday, Oct. 9, and continues Oct. 10-11 and 16-18. Performances begin at 7:30 p.m. with Saturday-Sunday Sunday matinees at 2:30 p.m.

Wait Until Dark is a psychological thriller, following the life of Susy Hendrix (Rosette Jarriett) – a blind woman living in the heart of Greenwich Village, New York. But when her husband, Sam (Jeff Goins) brings home a doll with hidden heroine, she becomes the target of three dangerous con men.

“Live theatre is the perfect place to experience an edge-of-your-seat thriller: a darkened room, packed with a mix of strangers and friends, immersed in suspenseful music and atmospheric lighting, and best of all, plenty of shadows in which our villains can hide…only inches away,” said Dr. Eric Harrell, associate professor in Regent’s School of Communication & the Arts, and director of the production.

“Take a minute to get to know the person sitting beside you, just in case you need a hand to hold when the lights go out,” he jokes. Or does he?

“There’s a reason this play is so widely produced year after year,” said Harrell. “Once you experience the heart-pounding finale, you’ll understand why.”
