Regent University School of Divinity Launch New Concentrations
Students seeking to weave together their faith with strategic leadership in business or worship will have the opportunity to hone their skills with Regent University School of Divinity’s (DIV) new concentrations in Marketplace Ministry and Worship & Media in its Master of Divinity and Master of Arts in Practical Theology programs, beginning in Regent’s Fall 2015 semester.
Regent’s Marketplace Ministry concentration in the M.Div. and M.A. in Practical Theology programs is geared for the student who wishes to integrate faith and leadership skills, both in the church as well as the business world.
Students completing their advanced degrees in this field of study will be primed for careers as ministry directors, campus ministers, church planters and business executives – traits crucial to transforming communities and starting or expanding ministries by effective business coaching.
Regent’s new Worship & Media concentration will allow students to learn how to garner a spirit-led experience relevant to contemporary worship services. Courses in exploring the effectiveness of social media and mobile media marketing will also prepare students for the roles of youth ministry, campus ministry and church planting.
“The way in which ministry is done has changed in the last 20 years, we have a need for people in ministry to have specialized skills in certain areas,” said Dr. Matthew Gordley, associate dean of academics for DIV. “Students will get a broad theological education with new facets of ministry in the 21st century.”
These “new facets” are crucial to expanding worship outreach in an increasingly digital age. Students will have the expertise to lead their organizations strategically, while offering authentic, organic worship services.
In addition to these new concentrations in advance degree programs, Regent’s DIV school is now accepting applications for Fall semester 2015 start for the certifications of these specific fields of study. Each certificate for the Marketplace Ministry and Worship & Media programs consists of four classes.
These graduate-level certificate programs allow students to gain a better understanding of these high-valued traits of Church and community leadership, and worship to enhance their current vocations.
The new concentrations and certificates are an innovative addition to the already strong set of unique concentration and certificate options within the School of Divinity including Christian Formation and Spirituality, Biblical Studies, and Missional Discipleship (Lutheran Studies), among others.
