Regent University Launches All-Online Bookstore

In mid-July, Amazon.com made a virtual splash with its inaugural “Prime Day” celebration.

On Thursday, July 16, Regent University took its own turn in the world of online retailing with the launch of its all-online bookstore. Students registered for Fall Semester 2015 classes have access to purchase their course-required resources through an online portal via Blackboard.

Students logged into the bookstore now have the capacity to purchase, rent and return books as they would through the former campus bookstore.

The online bookstore stems from a partnership with BNC Services (formerly MBS Direct), Regent’s new course material provider. With the shift toward online education, Regent’s online store will match the growing rate of online students, giving them easier access to purchasing or renting their course materials.

“Our enrollment is increasing dramatically,” said Carolyn Hughes, executive director of Student Services. “The new Blackboard Store is better equipped to meet the needs of our growing student population and the increasing numbers of programs and classes being offered.”

With the launch of the new site, the campus bookstore has closed, and renovations to the space it occupied in the Student Center have begun for a new coffee shop and lounge that will open later this year.
