Regent University Honors College Welcomes the Largest Incoming Class in its History
VIRGINIA BEACH, VA (Aug. 16, 2023) – Regent University Honors College is starting the new school year off strong—welcoming the largest incoming class of freshmen, ever!
On the evening of August 14, at the Shaw Chapel, a total of 104 new students were inducted into the Honors College incoming Class of 2023. Regent attributes the surge in the number and quality of applicants to the university’s unwavering commitment to cultivating leaders who are prepared to change the world.
“Excellence is the standard that Regent provides and expects. We are pleased that a Regent education continues to attract the best and the brightest,” said Dr. Simon Tarr, Dean of the Honors College and the Director of the School of Communication and the Arts. “The academic experience at Regent is innovative, relevant, and strategically designed to advance institutional goals, as well as the goals of our scholars.”
Honors College students are full-time, on campus undergraduates from all majors across the university. In addition to Regent’s vibrant learning community, Honors College students can take advantage of extensive faculty research and mentorship connections, advanced seminars and experiential learning opportunities, priority class registration, graduate library privileges, access to national and international industry leaders, travel funds, and more.
The gender breakdown of the 2023 incoming class is 70 percent women and 30 percent men. As for academic achievement, the mean SAT score for these first-year innovators was 1207, with an average unweighted high school GPA of 3.97.
