Regent Graduate Wins Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series
Even in his supporting roles, Regent University School of Communication & the Arts alumnus, Tony Hale ’95, shines.
On Sunday, Sept. 20, at the 67th Primetime Emmy Awards Show, Hale received his second Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series, for his portrayal of the character “Gary Walsh” from the HBO series, Veep.
This was Hale’s second Emmy win for the role and his third nomination.
Hale plays alongside television superstar Julia Louis-Dreyfuss (Seinfeld), who took home the Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for her role as Selina Meyer on the show. HBO’s Veep also received an Emmy for Outstanding Comedy Series, a feat of the writer’s that Hale acknowledged in his acceptance speech.
“To my Veep family, not only are these people so good at what they do, but they’re good people. And I’m telling you at the end of the day that’s what matters,” said Hale during his acceptance speech. “I’m so grateful to be working with them.”
