Attorney General Jason Miyares Inspires Regent Law Students with a Call for Justice
VIRGINIA BEACH, VA (Mar. 6, 2023) –Attorney General Jason Miyares visited the Regent University School of Law on Friday, March 3, to provide guest instruction to the University’s future attorneys and legal professionals.
Regent law students filled the seats in the Moot Court Room in Robertson Hall to hear AG Miyares talk about his days as a law student, his work as criminal prosecutor, and what he hopes to accomplish as the 48th Attorney General of the state of Virginia. Miyares’ exceptional career track and his quality knowledge sharing made this an invaluable educational enrichment opportunity.
“It was a pleasure to speak to members of Regent University’s first year law class about public service, the legal career and ways to serve others through the legal profession,” acknowledged Jason Miyares, Attorney General of Virginia. “These bright young students represent the very best of our Commonwealth, and I’m excited to see what their futures hold.”
Following his classroom instruction, AG Miyares indulged the student attendees further with a separate Q&A reception addressing questions about working in the Office of Attorney General Virginia.
“I value the strong relationship between Regent Law and the Office of Attorney General, and I appreciate the Attorney General’s willingness to invest in our students,” said Brad Lingo, dean of Regent University School of Law. “Our Foundations of Practice class, where he spoke, is designed to help students identify and step into their specific calling in the law. I hope the Attorney General’s remarks inspire some of our students to pursue a calling to public service.”
AG Miyares applauded Regent Law’s unwavering efforts to cultivate servant leaders. He went on to say, “It’s the level of service that a person provides that makes him or her great—and the greatest leaders have the courage to do the right thing,”
“Attorney General Miyares outlined and affirmed the vital role of lawyers in fighting for and upholding the vision of our Nation and its values, and emphasized the blessings of being an American,” said Joshua Ehst, Regent Law student. “His wisdom and insight regarding the legal profession was inspiring—and is something that you can’t get from a textbook.”
The students, as well as the faculty and staff in the School of Law benefited greatly from Attorney General Miyares’ visit. Regent Law will continue to welcome upright scholars to the campus to inspire the next generation of legal minds to change the world.
