Darwin E. Mills, Ed.D.

Bio

Dr. Darwin E. Mills serves as an assistant professor and program director for the Leadership in Mathematics Education M.Ed. and Ed.S. degree programs within the School of Education. He holds his Ed.D. in Administration & Supervision from the University of Virginia, MAT in Secondary-Level Mathematics from Christopher Newport University and B.S.  in Mathematics from North Carolina Central University.

Before joining the Regent faculty, full time, Mills has over 31 years in the public school sector, mostly in Newport News, Virginia. He has served as a teacher, coach, lead teacher, project director, instructional supervisor, discipline officer, assistant principal, and school principal. He has over 16 years of work experience as an adjunct professor for Thomas Nelson Community College, Regent University, and Christopher Newport University, respectively. Through the years, he worked in various after-school mathematics tutorial programs within schools, community centers, local churches, and universities.

Mills co-authored the Prentice Hall Mathematics middle school textbook series © 2004, 2007, 2010, 2011, 2013. He has served as a mathematics consultant for curriculum development and a presenter at various workshops and conferences, locally and nationally. Before becoming an educator, he was an actuarial assistant for North Carolina Mutual Life Insurance Company in Durham.

Mills has a plethora of experience and knowledge in dealing with students, teachers, administrators, parents, and the school community as a whole.
