Regent University’s School of Communication & the Arts Launches New & Enhanced Degree Programs

VIRGINIA BEACH, VA (March 9, 2022) – Regent University is pleased to announce new and enhanced degree programs in film & television, producing, screenwriting, and video production. The programs will be available beginning Fall 2022 and offer online and on-campus delivery options.

“These outstanding degree programs are important additions to our celebrated School of Communication & the Arts offerings,” said Dr. William Hathaway, executive vice president for Academic Affairs at Regent University. “For those who seek a high-quality education that integrates proven techniques and industry best practices, Regent’s programs are built on excellence to help you succeed.”

“We are so excited to launch these influential degree programs to equip students for the new realities that impact the film, television, and stage industries,” said Dr. Pete Fraser, director for the School of Communications & the Arts. “Our degree programs are taught by award-winning faculty and leading experts who will help students refine their craft.”

The new and enhanced programs include:

Through this new program, offered on Regent’s campus in Virginia Beach, undergraduate students will learn to merge storytelling with exceptional technical skills in all aspects of film, television, and production. This program replaces Regent’s B.A. in Cinema-Television, offering a competitive program that aligns with new trends, technologies and platforms.

Offered 100% online, this program is ideal for those who desire to work in the producing and executive sectors of the entertainment industry in various media formats, including emerging technologies. This program replaces the previous Master of Arts’ producing concentration and is now a stand-alone degree program.

Designed to help master visual storytelling style, students will prepare to advance as commercial-level writers in various genres, including feature films, TV and plays. This program replaces Regent’s Master of Arts’ script writing concentration and is now a stand-alone degree program, offered both online and on campus.

A terminal degree program for professional writers, students will hone their screenwriting craft in multiple styles while developing three full-length scripts. This online program replaces Regent’s Master of Fine Arts’ script and screenwriting concentration and offers a focused degree program to prepare advanced screenwriters.

Utilizing Regent’s state-of-the-art production studio, students will be trained to create video content tailored to all digital and traditional distribution platforms. This new program offers a dynamic and evolving area of study on campus in Virginia Beach.
