Regent Again Named Great College to Work For® by The Chronicle of Higher Education
For the ninth year, Regent University has been named one of The Chronicle of Higher Education’s Great Colleges to Work For®. The distinction was announced Monday, July 17, 2017, and Regent is one of 79 institutions recognized this year.
The Chronicle of Higher Education selects colleges and universities for superior quality in 12 categories. Regent was ranked for excellence in Facilities, Workspace and Security; and Respect and Appreciation.
“Our leadership team places a high priority on Regent’s workplace environment. We know that when our employees feel secure and appreciated, they will be better able to serve our students with excellence,” said Martha Smith, vice president for human resources and administration. “Once again, the Chronicle’s survey confirms our efforts to create and sustain an excellent workplace, and we appreciate the positive responses from our faculty and staff members in this voluntary survey.”
The Great Colleges to Work For® results are based on a two-part assessment including an “institutional audit,” which reviewed internal policies and practices as well as demographics within a particular institution. According to The Chronicle of Higher Education, the rankings came largely from the results of a survey completed by hundreds of thousands of employees from institutions of higher education across the nation.
The university employs approximately 730 full-time employees and provides part-time and temporary employment to more than 1,000 others including students, temporary staff and adjunct faculty members.
Regent’s community of excellence continues through its demonstrated growth of adult and traditional learners, which reached a record-breaking 10,000 enrolled students earlier in 2017.
