Career Opportunities in Specialty Fields

Career Switcher (CS) program (post-bachelor’s level) – Since 2012, the School of Education has delivered CS fully online and statewide. Approximately 64% of CS students get hired to teach each year at all grade levels in elementary and secondary schools. Research conducted in 2018 revealed that 84% of those employed were still teaching after 5-8 years, and their principals lauded they were their teaching as effective.

College of Arts & Sciences Teacher Education program (bachelor’s level) – For responding graduates (FA17 to SP20) seeking employment, 91% had full-time jobs while 9% had part-time jobs within four months of graduation. Graduates have been placed in a network of over 45 schools.

School of Law and Robertson School of Government (RSG) – Each of these graduate-level schools has its own career services office, with specialized internships, clerkships and job opportunities. Many RSG students benefit from a 0-credit Careers in Government course as well.

For the university overall, 57% of undergraduate students are employed prior to graduation. Among our graduate students, that number increases to 74%.

Testimonials

I have incredibly high praise for Riipen. Students thought about this project and responded in ways I have never seen before. This was an excellent opportunity for them to get real-world practice taking part in valid industry projects, and it left them excited and wanting more! - Albert Ball, Ph.D.
I thoroughly enjoyed the Riipen project and learned more than ever. I recently interviewed at a company that asked if I had any experience with blockchain technology, and I was able to tell him I have done extensive research on smartchain. I was offered the position. So it absolutely was beneficial to me. – Bryan Hooker
The Riipen Project is the most in-depth scholarly assignment that I have partaken in. The collaborative aspects could not be more proper in sharpening my communication and leadership skills. Also, learning from my peers expanded my worldview about cybersecurity. I have grown significantly in my operational knowledge of what constitutes Internet and network security technologies. - Kouao Willy Akasson
