Virginia Law Foundation Awards Grant to Regent Law
VIRGINIA BEACH, VA (July 10, 2024) – Regent University School of Law’s Center for Global Justice just received a generous $10,000 grant from the Virginia Law Foundation. The grant will provide funding to help victims of human trafficking.
The Center for Global Justice recently launched a clinic to help human trafficking survivors. The Center advocated to help pass a vacatur law in Virginia that would erase criminal convictions for human trafficking survivors. In 2023, the Center helped the first survivor in Virginia to have criminal charges expunged under the new vacatur law.
“We are grateful to the Virginia Law Foundation for investing in our Center for Global Justice and helping to change the lives of human trafficking survivors,” said Brad Lingo, Dean of Regent University School of Law. “This generous grant makes it possible to expand access to the Virginia vacatur law and help provide life-giving legal aid to victims of human trafficking.”
Over the years, the Virginia Law Foundation has provided grants to support projects throughout the Commonwealth that facilitate access to justice, promote an appreciation and understanding of the Rule of Law, and provide law-related education in support of these ideals.
“The Virginia Law Foundation is pleased to support your organization and this important program,” said Colleen M. Quinn, President of the Virginia Law Foundation. “Organizations and projects like yours contribute to our mission in meaningful ways and provide essential support to Virginians in need. Thank you for the excellent work you do, and we hope this grant empowers your organization to enact lasting change and impact in our community.”
