Dr. Karen Higgins is an Associate Professor and Director of the MSN Program, Education & Leadership at Regent University. As a nurse educator, she has taught undergraduate and graduate students in academic and clinical settings. Her teaching interests include student wellness, innovative teaching strategies and incorporating the arts in education.
Additionally, Dr. Higgins has been a certified family nurse practitioner for over 30 years. As a primary care provider, she uses a patient-centered approach with an emphasis on health promotion, wellness and empowering patients to manage their health.
Dr. Higgins has been a speaker at state and national conferences and has published articles on innovations in graduate nursing education, self-care, and health and well-being of nursing students. She is a graduate of Bradley University (BSN), Old Dominion University (MSN), and Chatham University (DNP) and is a veteran of the US Navy Nurse Corps.
