The Regent Enactus Team Wins Big and Brings Change to the People of Zambia
VIRGINIA BEACH, VA (Oct. 26, 2022) – The Regent Enactus Team has recently made history with its first ever win of the WILO Excellence Award in the International Action with Africa Challenge. Prior to this win, the team ranked 3rd in its track in the 2022 National Exposition, placing them in the top 4% of Enactus teams nationwide—the highest accomplishment that Regent Enactus students had ever achieved. However, it was Enactus Germany that broke the news that the Regent team had clinched the title with a record-breaking victory.
Enactus is the world’s largest student-led entrepreneurship network, active in 33 countries, on over 2000 campuses, and involving nearly 40,000 students each year.
Enactus Germany challenged teams across the globe to develop and present projects that provided solutions for improving the well-being and quality of life of underprivileged populations in the continent of Africa.
Regent Enactus students rose to the challenge with their Triple E Project, which aims to educate, employ, and empower people in Zambia by providing free open-source entrepreneurship training.
Regent Enactus partnered with MGI Ministries, led by Pastor Mark Young, who had already secured a plot of land in Zambia’s Mungule Village to develop a self-sustaining community. Pastor Young plans to have eight functional fishponds for commercial tilapia farming that will not only feed the population of the village, but also generate revenue to finance a community garden, a school, and a medical center. Regent student-designed entrepreneurship curriculum will also be used to educate the villagers on how to establish, operate, and manage a tilapia fish farm.
The Regent Enactus team, joined by team alum, worked all summer to ensure that the Triple E Project was ready to compete in the Global Action with Africa Challenge and for consideration for the WILO Excellence Award. In addition to clinching the WILO Excellence Award, their effort was blessed with a third-place finish among the competing teams from around the globe. The Regent team was also awarded €1000 (1000 Euro = $995.50) to help fund the digging of the fishponds in Zambia’s Mungule Village.
Regent Enactus is excited to continue working with MGI Ministries and to see how God will use our students to help further glorify His name around the world.
